What is ASIST?
ASIST stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). It is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don't need any formal training to attend the workshopâanyone 16 or older can learn and use the ASIST model.
What is the schedule for the two day workshop?
We will begin each day at 8:15 and go until 4:30pm. It is important to attend both days to be able to learn the necessary skills and apply them in practice sessions. If you are not available to attend both days, we ask you not attend and wait for the next one we provide.
What else should I know?
We will provide lunch both days and snacks throughout both days. Although you are welcome to have lunch on your own if you choose.
