Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a public education program introducing participants to risk factors and warning signs and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches how to help an adolescent in a crisis or experiencing a challenge by providing support. YMHFA is not intended for anyone under the age of 18.
- Assess for risk of suicide or harm
- Listen non-judgmentally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional assistance
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
Participants must attend the 8-hour training to receive YMHFA certificate. For more information, visit www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org
